Than one who speaks from experience, in Arabic mis̤lu khabîrin. Compare Koran, xxxv. 15: “If ye cry to them (the false gods), they hear not your cry, and if they heard they would not answer you; and in the day of Resurrection they will disown your joining them with God. And none can instruct thee like Him who is informed (khabîr) of all.”

Thou art the son of the days, i.e., well acquainted with their con­ditions and proof against their vicissitudes, as we would say “a thorough man of the world.”
