LETTER CCLXXXVI.
To MAHOMMED YOOSÛF, CUTWÂL of the BÂZÂR,* accompanying the
Presence; dated 3d JAAFURY.* (6th June.)

YOU have represented, “that two thousand four hundred and eighty-five bullock loads of rice, gram, &c. were some time ago dispatched “to the Presence [i. e. to the Sultan’s army] and eleven hundred and “nine very lately [or now].” It is known, and appears very extraordinary to us, that out of fifty or sixty thousand bullock loads, the duties on which have been remitted to the Lumbânehs,* only one or two thousand should have been dispatched [to us]. You must give strict orders for ten or fifteen thousand loads to be forwarded [hither] at a time.
