LETTER CCXX.
To BÛRHANÛDDEEN; dated 29th YOOSÛFY. (4th February.)

WE have heard, that the enemy* has detached a large force, for the purpose of falling suddenly upon [or surprising] your army*: we therefore write, to desire that you will, immediately on the receipt of this letter, take up a position at Dhârwâr, and dispatching the whole of your baggage into the country of Nugr [the province of Bidnore], remain yourself with your arm y unencumbered.* You must, on this point employ the strictest precautions. Let it not be (God forbid!) that the enemy should surprise you.
