LETTER CXC.
To MOHYÛDDEEN ALI KHÂN and URSHUDÛLLAH KHÂN, DEWÂN and
BUKTSHY of KURPAH; same Date. (30th December.)

NOTIFYING the Sultan’s pleasure, that Gurramcoondah should, for the future, be called Zuferâbâd, and directing the same to be published throughout the country.

OBSERVATIONS.

I cannot positively state, whether or not Merkerrah of Koorg continued to be called Zuferâbâd, after the latter name was transferred to Gurramcoondah: but I am inclined to think in the negative; both because it is not probable that the same new name should have been applied to two different places, and because, whenever Zuferâbâd is subsequently mentioned, Gurramcoondah would constantly seem to be intended.
