XII. SAYYID TĀJU-'D-DĪN, OF LAKHNAU.*

He was one of the successors of Shaikh Muḥammad Ghau,* and was a master of the art of exorcism. He had a great reputation for asceticism, holy poverty, and resignation, and was generous and open-handed. He came to Lakhnau, where very many were honoured by converse with him, and received from him permission to give instruction in religious matters. There he died.
