KÁẒI ḤAMÍDU'DDÍN* NÁGORÍ

Was the son of Aṭáu'ddín of Bokhárá, where he was born. In the reign of Mu'izzu'ddín Sám he came to Delhi with his father, and for three years held the office of Ḳáẓí at Nágor. Unexpectedly the desire of a life of retirement seized him. Abandoning the world he journeyed to Baghdad and became the disciple of Shaykh Shihábu'ddín Suhrawardí. There he entered into intimate friendship with Khwájah Ḳuṭbu'ddín and after travelling to Ḥijáz came to Delhi. He died on the night of the 5th of Ramaẓán, A. H. 644 (Sunday, 9th November, A. D. 1246) without any previous illness. He is buried in Delhi.
