MANKÚYAH*

Was one of the generals of Hulágú Khán. He advanced as far as U´chh in the reign of Sulṭán Aláu'ddín Masạúd Sháh (A. D. 1242–46), who marched to give him battle. On arriving at the banks of the Biáh, the invader retreated to Khurásán. A year previous to the invasion of Mankúyah, a part of the army of Changíz Khán entered Bengal* and hostilities took place with Tughán Khán, who was at that time governor on the part of Aláu'ddín Masạúd Sháh, but terms of peace were agreed upon. In the reign of Sulṭán Náṣiru'ddín Maḥmúd Sháh (A. D. 1245–65), the Mughal troops again invaded the Panjáb and retired.
