When the assembly heard this, all were astonished at the prince's eloquence and wisdom, and raised their voices in applause, saying: “O sultan, thy son is most accomplished!” Then the sultan commanded a ponderous stone to be tied to the feet of the artful and wicked concubine, and she was cast into the sea. The tutor was rewarded, and invested with an em­broidered robe of great value. The sultan delighted in his son, and abdicating his throne, gave it up to the prince, who made all happy by his justice and clemency.
