HAVING ascertained in what part of that country saffron is cultivated,* engage two persons in our service, and send them thither to purchase one or two maunds* of the seed, which [when procured] is to be dispatched to us. You must also procure silk-worms, and send them hither, together with some men acquainted with the mode of managing them, to whom you will make an advance of money for their support.
