The reign of this Sháh (Hormisdas II., A.D. 302-309) seems to be regarded as uneventful by all authorities. He left, apparently, three sons, Ázarnarsí, Urmuzd, and one unnamed, in addition to one or more posthumes. After the Sháh's death Ázarnarsí succeeded, but within a year was deposed for cruelty, Urmuzd was imprisoned but escaped long afterwards to the Romans,*
the unnamed one was blinded, and a posthumous child became Sháh.*
He proved to be one of the most famous of the dynasty.
