Narsí (Narses, A.D. 293-302) does not appear to have been the son of Bahrám Bahrámiyán but of Shápúr, son of Ardshír Pápakán.*
Historically his reign was an important one as we learn from sources other than Persian and Arabic. Firdausí, Tabarí, and Mas'údí have little or nothing to record of him, but Mírkhánd states that he abdicated in favour of his son Urmuzd, and, further, that his prowess in the chase won him the title of ‘The mighty Hunter.’*
