Aflākī, Šams al-Dīn Aḥmad d. 761/1360

Biographer

Little is known on the life of Šams al-Dīn Aḥmad Aflākī. He was a disciple of Jalāl al-Dīn ʿĀrif, the grandson of the great poet Mawlānā Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī (see author 187). At his request, Aflākī composed the work for which his known, Manāqib al-ʿārifīn.

Manāqib al-ʿārifīn (completed 754/1353-4) is a work on the lives of Rūmī, his father, successors, and friends, with anecdotes related to each. Aflākī died in 761/1360.
