Šāh Tajallī ʿAlī was a disciple of the saint Šāh Mu’in Tajallī. He gained a reputation during his time as man of various talents—he was a mystic, a calligrapher, a poet, a prose-writer and a painter, and consequently made an impression on Niẓām ʿAlī Ḫān (Niẓām of Hydarabad) and his nobles. In 1206/1792, Šāh Tajallī ʿAlī completed the work Tūzuk-i Āṣafī, also referred to as Tuzuk i Āṣafīyah, Āṣaf-nāmah, and aẕkirah i Āṣafī. Tūzuk-i Āṣafī is a history of the Niẓāms (of Haydarabad??), in particular Niẓām ʿAlī Ḫān, extending to 1206/1792.
