Rustam ʿAlī Šāhābādī is mostly known for his work Tārīḫ-i Hindī, completed ca. 1154/1741–2. Tārīḫ-i Hindī is a general history of what is now India divided into ten sections and extending to ca. 1154/1741–2. The work devotes much space to the rule of Muḥammad Šāh and also provides some information on the šaykh’s and poets who were Rustam ʿAlī’s contemporaries.
