Muḥammad Kāẓim ibn Muḥammad Amīn

Historian

Muḥammad Kāẓim ibn Muḥammad Amīn served under Mughal Emperor Awrangzīb (see Awrangzīb (ʿĀlamgīr I)) as munšī (secretary). He was the son of Munšī Muḥammad Amīn, the official historiographer of Awrangzīb’s father (Šāh Jahān). Awrangzīb ordered Muḥammad Kāẓim to compile a history of his reign from the official records. The ensuing product was ʿĀlamgīr-nāmah.
