Ḥusām al-Dīn, Munšī

Munšī Ḥusām al-Dīn was employed as a secretary to an English officer of the East India Company. He accompanied his employer to the seat of the Marāthās, the semi-autonomous faction that began challenging Mughal rule in the latter the half of the 11th-12th/17th century. In 1190/1776–7, he composed Šarḥ-i aḥvāl-i Marhaṭṭa dār zamān i sābiq va ḥāl bar sabīl-i ijmāl, a history of the Marāthās extending to 1091/1680.
