Of a family from Hamadān, Iran that settled in Kashmir, Muḥammad Ṣādiq Kašmīrī Hamadānī moved to Delhi and became known amongst the scholars of Mughal Emperor Šāh Jahān’s reign. He is mostly known for his work entitled Tabaqāt-i Šāh Jahānī.
Tabaqāt-i Šāh Jahānī is a collection of notices on theologians, poets and other professionals of note from the beginning of the Mughal dynasty until the reign of Šāh Jahān. He also wrote Kalimāħ al-ṣādiqīn, completed in 1023/1614, a collection of 125 biographies of saints who are buried at Delhi
