Mīrzā Muḥammad Bāqir Ḫān (called Bāqir Najm-i ānī or simply Najm-i ānī) was a general and then later a governor in the service of Mughal rulers Jahāngīr (see Jahāngīr) and Šāh Jahān. He was a patron of the arts, himself being a poet and calligrapher, and the author of the work Mawʿiẓah-yi Jahāngīrī, also called Mawāʿiẓ-i-Jahāngiri. Mawʿiẓah-yi Jahāngīrī is a book of advice dedicated to Jahāngīr. While it is one of the few surviving Mirror for Princes of the Mughal period, it is nonetheless “a brief work entirely theoretical in conception and devoid of any historical anecdotes”. Mīrzā Muḥammad Bāqir Ḫān died in 1047/1636–7.
