"ʿAlī," Mīrzā Nūr al-Dīn Muḥammad Ni'mat Ḫān

“ʿAlī,” Mīrzā Nūr al-Dīn Muḥammad Niʿmat Ḫān

Mīrzā Nūr al-Dīn Muḥammad entered the service of the Mughal government during the reign of Šāh Jahān, attaining his highest position and the title of Niʿmat Ḫān during the reign of Awrangzīb (r. 1068/1658 to 1118/1707, see Awrangzīb (ʿĀlamgīr I)). Niʿmat Ḫān wrote on a variety of topics ranging from an allegorical love story and a work on cookery to historical topics related to the Mughal Empire. Niʿmat Ḫān is thought to have died in 1122/1710, but other dates have been offered as well.
